Opened in 1984, the Ruth Lilly Center for Health and Fitness is the nucleus of the Greyhound Athletic Department. The Ruth Lilly Center is home to coaches’ offices, Methodist Hospital/Methodist Sports Medicine Life Fitness Center, video viewing rooms, meeting rooms, an athletic training room and athletic administration offices.
The RLC pool, opened in 1982, is a 25-yard/meter eight-lane competitive facility that also includes a separate 13-foot-deep diving well with two one-meter and one three-meter maxiflex diving boards. Daktronics timing system is used. The facility features the use of underwater viewing, helpful in stroke analysis. The crown jewel of the pool is the newly-installed video board which displays times and multimedia at home events. The Greyhound volleyball team and wrestling teams host home events at the Ruth Lilly Center. The sunken court allows fans to enjoy the action from both the bleachers and from the concourse that encircles the court. The west side bleachers hold 500 fans with standing room capacity for 500 more. The court surface doubles as a full-length basketball practice area as well as four other practice shooting areas.
The Wetherald Wrestling Room, named for legendary Hall of Fame coach Terry Wetherald, is on the south end of the gym and houses the Greyhound wrestling program. During the summer of 2016, renovations were done to increase its size by 1,470 square feet, bringing its total size to more than 4,400 square feet.
The court in the Ruth Lily Center is dedicated to former Vice President for Intercollegiate Athletics, Dr. Sue Willey. Dr. Sue Willey spent 45 years at the University of Indianapolis and helped with several advancements in UIndy athletics. In her time at the University of Indianapolis she led plans for several renovations to athletic facilities, the number of varsity teams grew to 23 teams and the number of student-athletes has grown to be nearly 700 student-athletes.
